Sorry about the lack of updates around here. I've just delivered a novel, so normal service (or what passes for it) will resume very shortly. Cheers!

  2. Excellent can't wait for your next Novel.

  4. Cool! Looking forward to a new novel. I also loved Terminal world however was itching to have more of the strange physics explained. There were hints as to the underlying structure of the universe that had me thinking up some wild ideas - for instance they're living in a cellular automaton with differing sets of rules for different zones...

  8. Hi all

The book still has to go through edits, so it'll be a wee while before it's stable enough for me to extract anything. I'd imagine we'll be well into the new year before that's the case. As to when the book will be out, I'd hesitate to say right now - it could still meet the Amazon pub date of June, but it could equally well slip.

  10. Congratulations Mr Reynolds. I look forward to the release whenever that may be. I've always liked the "it'll be ready when it's ready" theory, because I believe that's the only way to get the best end product.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. I've got a few of your books in my Christmas stocking this year, so can't wait for the 25th to come!

  11. This is very good news. Something else to look forward to for the summer other than the end of all this cold weather.

Merry Christmas Alastair and all the fans on here.

  12. Looking forward to it.

Would you mind giving us a summary of any short fiction coming out soon?

  13. J: not too much short fiction on the horizon, I'm afraid. "Troika" has appeared (Godlike Machines is out, but only available from the SFBC - although there'll be a Subterranean Press edition next year). "The Old Man and the Martian Sea" will appear in Jonathan Strahan's Life on Mars anthology pretty soon, and that's it for now. I've done a short story for an internal publication put together by Barclays Bank, but that's of little use to you unless you're a Barclays employee. Of course I'm hoping to write one or two things in 2011, but there's going to be a bit less room for short fiction than in other years due to other contractual obligations.

  14. Good luck for your new trilogy, I'll make sure to go and get BRE when it's out.

Just a short nerd question: do "Spirey and the Queen" and "Sledge-maker's Daughter" share the same universe or merely thematic elements?

    Oh, and merry Christmas!

  15. Did you just deliever the first draft of Blue Remembered Earth?

I have a feeling that it will be awesome.

  16. Esebian: no connection between those two stories (or between them and anything else I've written ... yet).

Anon: yes, I just submitted BRE - it's already been through a few drafts but if the process is anything like my previous books, there will be at least one more before publication.

  17. Hi Al

loving the "new" site (been a while since i googled you :)

looking forward to the new book, another project... script a computer game. we need a serious sci fi game, come on, you know you want to!

Thought Terminal world was fantastic, still eagerly awaiting a sequel to Pushing Ice, which is my favourite book of yours (with the exception of RS which was the first so it was a real awakening for me into the world of epic sci fi :)

    Rob Williams.
